Foods to Avoid At All Cost for Clear Skin

Anytime is a great time to start taking care of your body–specifically your skin. We’ve all heard the saying, “You are What You Eat”, in this case, what you eat could be causing your face to break out. 

Pop Sugar reported “7 Foods to Absolutely Avoid If You Want Clear, Glowing Skin” the list advised to avoid the likes of staple items such as coffee; this may seem steep for some of us (myself included) so I’ve narrowed the list down to items I think would be easier than others to replace. By avoiding these foods and doing a regular face routine you should be on your way to healthy, clear skin in no time–but of course, give it some time!

According to Dr. Frank Lipman, A pioneer in functional and integrative medicine, “Your skin is your largest organ and a window into what’s going on inside your body. Poor food choices that cause inflammation can lead to numerous skin issues.”

AVOID (Soda)

“Soda “Soda is full of sugar and other artificial chemicals, all of which produce inflammation inside the body,” he advised. Not only does soda increase insulin levels, but diet soda especially disrupts the necessary and healthy bacteria found in your gut. AVOID (Canned Soup)

“Canned soup is full of sodium and BPA (bisphenol),” he noted. “All of the salt in canned soup can make your skin retain water and appear bloated and dry. In addition, BPA is an endocrine disruptor, which causes problems with hormones. It’s also a foreign chemical that can enter your body and cause inflammation” (Pop Sugar 2016).

“Canned wild salmon is high healthy fats, especially omega-3s,” he said. “These fats reinforce cell membranes and therefore help nourish the skin. Omega-3 fatty acids are also great natural anti-inflammatories”(Pop Sugar 2016).
